Offroad 4WD Training and Tours is conducting a 4WD and Recovery Techniques Course combined with the Introduction to 4WD course every third Sunday of the month. While this course is suitable for single drivers, our courses are also designed to allow couples with different driving skills to participate using one vehicle.

This will be a full-on day of learning about how to get your 4WD out of just about any situation you may find yourself in, so we plan to kick off at 8:00 am at our training venue.

Please contact O4TT for details about enroling in this course.

Courses are subject to numbers. If you enrol in a course and we find that we have insufficient participants to conduct the course we will contact you to determine your next suitable course date.

We conduct out courses at our private training facility at a property within 90 minutes of the Brisbane CBD, where you can be assured that you will never be interrupted by other 4WD owners. You will be provided with full course information (including where to meet one of your trainers on the morning of your course) after you enrol in a course. One word of warning, as we will have a big day ahead of us, we will be meeting at 7:30 am SHARP.

We will cover the recovery skills that all good 4WD drivers need to learn. Initially, we will be having a chat over a coffee and biscuits about recovering 4WD vehicles, as there are some basic concepts that need to covered so that we ensure everyone’s safety. After that, we will spent the rest of the day learning and practising new recovery skills with our 4WD vehicles. You will soon learn what you re capable of achieving when your 4WD vehicle becomes ‘geophysically embarrassed’!

Some of what we will cover:

  • The importance of tyre pressures
  • Forward and reverse Stop/Stall Key Start recovery
  • Using Maxtrax / Recovery Boards / Bog Out
  • Safe use of a Snatch Strap
  • Winch Safety
  • Rigging a winch to recover a 4WD
  • Hand Winches
  • Diff lock operation and use
  • Track inspection
  • Understand how to pick a safe recovery line.

This will be a full-on day of learning. One thing to note is that to be able to participate in the recovery exercises you need to bring your own recovery equipment – this includes winches. The aim of the day is to prepare YOU to use YOUR equipment to recover YOUR vehicle.

We plan to be finished by around 3:00 pm, so there will be plenty of time for you to drive home after the day’s activities.

The course will cost you $180.00 for the first driver and $70.00 for any other participating drivers in the same car. This will cover any printed materials, morning tea and a light lunch.

A friend or your family is more than welcome to come with you. The only condition is that when you are attempting some skills for the first time, we would prefer that you were the only person in the vehicle. This will allow you to concentrate on the task at hand. If you will have any other people or kids in the car, the meal option is available to them as well. We ask for $15.00 per person to cover the cost of the morning tea and lunch meal.

As this course covers driving and vehicle recovery skills that are are more advanced in nature, we strongly advise that participants complete our Introduction to 4WD course prior to attempting this course. This will ensure that you have the basic vehicle control skills that all 4WD drivers need before attempting the more ambitious techniques this course delivers.

If you are interested in this single day course and have any questions for us or to reserve your place, simply visit our Facebook page or email us directly.

We specialise in small group training, so places are limited.
